2 die of suspected dengue in Tiruvallur district

The government has stepped up prevention measures across the State by deploying more sanitary workers after the deaths. All the district and governments hospitals have adequate stock of medicines while health officers have been asked to closely watch the situation and take necessary steps.

“About 10 per cent of patients consulting for fever at government hospitals have dengue symptoms. This monsoon season will be challenging for Health Department. But we are ready to face any situation,” State Health Minister C Vijaya Baskar, told reporters after inspecting the Thoothukudi Government Medical College and Hospital. On Monday, a 21-year-old woman near Tiruttani died of suspected dengue.
