Woman consumes acid, ends life

The deceased, Akila of Choolaipallam, was dejected after her husband Sivakumar abandoned her and their two daughters and left for his hometown in Villupuram district.

Sivakumar, a house painter, was addicted to alcohol which led to frequent quarrels. Sivakumar left after one such quarrel and Akila asked him to return home. As he refused, Akila consumed the acid on Sunday. Neighbours rushed her to a hospital, but she died without responding to treatment.
