Wall of septic tank collapses, 2 workers die
Two men died and two others were injured after an under-construction septic tank collapsed near Maduranthagam on Friday.

The deceased were identified as Chakarai (26) of Chennai and Venkatesan (28) of Ulundurpettai and the injured are Loganathan (24) of Thiruvanamalai and Veerapandian (30) of Ulundurpettai.
The police said that a private cosmetics factory in Vaiyaoor village was expanding their building and the workers were constructing a new septic tank for the factory. On Friday evening Chakarai, Venkatesan, Loganathan, and Veerpandian climbed down into the tank and were working when the sidewall along with the sand collapsed on them. By the time other workers removed the debri, Chakarai and Venkatesan died. Others were taken to the Chengalpattu Government Hospital. The police, who visited the spot, said that the walls were weak and the concrete had not set as it was raining the whole night. It is said that the vibrations from a lorry passing by caused the collapse. The Padalam police have registered a case.
