Mahila court gives life term to man for murdering mom
Three years after a 60-year-old woman was murdered by her son, the Mahila court where the trial was under way, convicted the accused, T Amarnath Prasad (40), and sentenced him to life imprisonment on Monday.

Amarnath, who worked as a call taxi driver, was arrested in May 2016, on charges of murdering his mother T Sasikala. According to police, a quarrel erupted between the mother and son when Amarnath returned home under the influence of alcohol.
Furious over it, he slit Sasikala’s throat, tied her up with a saree before setting her ablaze to make it look like a suicide. Amarnath was also slapped with a fine of Rs 5,000 by judge RN Manjula.
