Special reservation counters opened

State Transport Minister MR Vijayabhaskar inaugurated 30 special reservation counters in four places across the city for passengers travelling to their native for Deepavali on Thursday.

“The 30 special reservation counters for Deepavali will function at Dr MGR Bus Terminus in Koyambedu, Tambaram Sanatorium, Poonamallee bus stand and Madhavaram new bus stand. Out of the 30 counters, twenty-six will be in Koyambedu, two in Tambaram and one each in Poonamallee and Madhavaram,” Vijayabhaskar said after the inauguration.


He added that the reservation counters would function from 7 am to 9 pm. Apart from the 30 reservation counters, special counters for women, physically challenged and senior citizens were also opened at Koyambedu bus terminus.


So far, 1.39 lakh people have booked tickets for Deepavali in government buses, including 54,754 passengers from Chennai to other places. Similar to last year, people can book tickets through www.tnstc.in, www.redbus.in, www.paytm.com, www.makemytrip.com, www.busindia.com and www.goibibo.com.


The Minister said that for the convenience of the people, buses to various parts of Tamil Nadu and outside the State would start from five different bus terminuses in the city. This is also expected to reduce traffic congestion in the city during the weekend.


Vijayabhaskar also said that in case passengers have any complaint on buses they can contact the 24-hour control room by dialling 9445014450 and 9445014436.
