According to Dinesh Saravanan, “We went to places like Pillayar Kuppam, Pootuthakku, Rathangiri and Tiruvalam a week ago to find out who exactly needed crackers and sweets to celebrate Deepavali. We did not tell them about the proposed plan to give them the ‘gifts’ as we wanted to surprise them. As usual, when he informed his Facebook page and his Whatsapp group, money poured in and soon he was able to provide ten families with combo crackers and sweet boxes “which cost a total of Rs 8,500”.
