“Garbage is scattered all over the road outside my house and cows frequently rummage through the waste. When I asked around, my neighbours said there were two garbage bins at the corner of the street.\ After Corporation officials removed them, residents started throwing waste on the road,” said Gopalakrishnan MK, who recently moved to the locality. “Door-to-door garbage collection is not available in the locality and residents continue to dump garbage where the garbage cans were placed earlier. We have filed complaints with Corporation officials, but nothing has changed,” he added.

Residents also complained that stray dogs and cattle eat plastic from the piles of waste and scatter them. A senior corporation the official said, “Sanitary workers are instructed to clear the place twice a day and we haven’t received any complaints from the residents.”
