“Solid wastes get accumulated in between the apartments constructed by the Slum Clearance Board, making way for health hazards during the monsoon days. About 420 large bins at a cost of Rs 85 lakh will be installed at the Slum Clearance board apartments to clear the garbage on a daily basis,” a statement from TNSCB said. There were reports that a large quantity of solid wastes get accumulated in the apartments constructed by the Slum Clearance Board, and following the reports, TNSCB engaged conservancy workers attached to the Corporation from October 16 and cleared garbage in 10 zones, beginning from October 16 till Wednesday.
The Corporation was paid Rs 18 lakh in the last 15 days for the cleaning works. Once the garbage bins were installed, the Corporation has been asked to direct its sanitary workers to remove garbage on a daily basis to ensure non-accumulation of solid wastes.
