DMK functionary, hubby held for ex-Mayor’s murder
More than three months after the murder of former Tirunelveli Mayor M Uma Maheshwari of DMK, her husband Murugasankaran and their housemaid, the CB-CID on Wednesday arrested parents of Karthik Raja, a suspect who was already arrested by the local police in connection with the case.

CB-CID in a press release here said that they have arrested Karthik Raja’s father M Thannachi and mother T Seeniammal on Wednesday. The family believed that Seeniammal’s growth in the party was blocked by Uma Maheshwari and her husband. So, they decided to eliminatethe couple.
The family had conspired together and executed the killing with the help of a gang hired by them. The three were stabbed to death at her house in Melapalayam onJuly 23, 2019.
