Labourers get life term for killing co-worker in 2013

Two daily wage labourers were sentenced to life imprisonment by the Additional District and Sessions Court in Poonamallee for murdering their co-worker in 2013.

The convicts, Silambarasan (25) and Raghunandan (24) from Sirkazhi, were absconding after being released on bail. They were arrested recently and convicted of charges, said sources. They were working as labourers at a private company along with the victim, Yesukumar (28) from Kodungaiyur.


In December, 2013, the staff of the company had gone for dinner and an argument broke out between the duo and Yesukumar. Infuriated over this, Silambarasan and Raghunandan assaulted Yesukumar and murdered him using a wooden log. They fled the spot immediately after the incident, said the police.


Following this, the Tiruverkadu police had registered a case and arrested them from their hideout. However, they came out on bail and were absconding since then.


The police caught them few days ago and produced them before the court, said the police. Judge GT Ambika, III Additional District and Sessions Court, Poonamallee, sentenced the convicts to life imprisonment.
