Residents noticed a calf standing near the drain for a long time on Tambaram-Mudichur Road and making noises. When they checked inside the drain on suspicion, they found a cow struggling inside. The public tried to lift the cow with help of a rope. As their efforts were in vain, they alerted the Tambaram fire and rescue services.

The residents claimed that the cement slab closing the storm water drain is damaged at many places on either side of the Tambaram-Mudichur Road leading to such incidents. They added that the officials should take steps to close themproperly.
