Justice G Jayachandran, before whom a plea moved by Jayashree of Perambur came up on Tuesday, directed the Commissioner, GCC, to inspect both the places cited by the petitioner and file a detailed report on November 15.

The petitioner had submitted that in a public pathway in Sembiam, two borewells which had failed to yield water, were lying abandoned. But, the unused borewells have not been closed properly posing a grave danger to passersby.

Hence, in a bid to avert a similar mishap that occurred in Manaparai resulting in the death of two-year-old Sujith Wilson, both the borewells ought to be closed properly, the petitioner said.
