Man stabs wife for choosing lover over him

Police arrested Natarajan of Chunambedu, who works at a pizza shop in Koyambedu. Devi, his wife who suffered cut injuries, was admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital with injuries.

Police said Natarajan and Devi were married about 10 years ago, and the couple has two children. Devi was in a relationship with Dhananchezhiyan from her hometown in Villupuram. Even after marriage, Devi was allegedly in contact with him. When he came to know about this, Natarajan had warned Devi against continuing the relationship. Police said the couple used to quarrel often after that.

When he came home after work on Wednesday, Natarajan found that Devi and his two children were missing. Soon, he lodged a complaint with the Chunambedu police. After registering a case, the police searched for Devi and the children, and traced them at her hometown. Police took Devi and the two children to the Chunambedu police station and tried to convince her and Natarajan to forget the past and continue living together. However, Devi was stubborn about her decision and said she would only live with Dhananchezhiyan, said police, adding that the children wanted to be with their father. Following that, police got a statement from Devi and let her go. Later at the Chunambedu bus stop, Natarajan met Devi while she was waiting for the bus and both of them began to argue. Natarajan took out a knife and attacked her. The public who gathered there intercepted and caught him and alerted the police. With injuries on her neck, Devi was rushed to the hospital. Police arrested Natarajan for attacking his wife.
