Woman among five held for peddling ganja, auto seized
The city police, on Saturday, arrested five persons, including a woman, for peddling ganja and seized 2.7 kg of the banned substance from them. The Red Hills police, based on a tip-off, secured a duo in possession of 1.5 kg ganja near the bus stand and inquiries revealed that they were selling it to college students in small quantities.

An autorickshaw was also seized from the accused identified as Vignesh (29) of Vyasarpadi and Viji (20) of Puzhal. During investigation, the duo allegedly told the police that they were given the contraband by one Ramya of Madhavaram. She was also secured for interrogation. The police said that Ramya's husband Ajithkumar has already been arrested in a similar case. All three were arrested and remanded in judicial custody. Similarly, the Royala Nagar police arrested two men and seized 1.2 kg ganja from them. The accused, M Suresh (37) of Ramapuram and D Baskar (36) of Ramapuram, were secured from Poonamallee High Road near a school, said the police. Both are said to be history-sheeters with assault cases pending against them. The duo was remanded in judicial custody.
