After hearing petitions from the city corporation staff belonging to the SC/ST community at the Chennai corporation headquarters on Monday, he took note of the workers’ complaint of 33 backlog vacancies reserved for SC/ST remaining vacant since 2014 in the civic body.
Officials have been directed to ensure that all 33 backlog vacancies be filled within two months. We have asked the corporation to conduct a special drive for it,” Murugan said.
The NCSC vice chairman also directed the civic body to form a grievance hearing cell in all its 15 zones for the benefit of scheduled caste and scheduled tribes’ community staffs.
When asked about the recent death of a 25-year-old man, who fainted inside a septic tank in a mall after rescuing his brother, Murugan said that such incident should not have happened at all. He said that the commission along with civic body will be creating awareness among workers. On Tuesday, NCSC will hear the case of DMK’s party organ Murasoli office being built on Panchami land.
