Orinam, an all-volunteer collective of LGBTQIA (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and asexual) people and allies based in Chennai, started its reading group in 2012.

Named Quilt, the reading community is a space for people to share their favourite readings in any language as well as share something that they’ve written, or just join in and listen. Writings by LGBTQIA authors on the lives of queer people – whether in fiction, poetry or autobiographical forms are also welcomed.

While English and Tamil are the languages in which participants commonly share their readings, other languages with translated summaries can also be opted for, Orinam notes on its website.

The upcoming edition of Quilt will be held on November 24 from 3.30 pm to 5.30 pm at Semmozhi Poonga on Anna Salai. Contactorinam.net@gmail.com or 98415 57983 for more details.
