Man held for assaulting stepson in city
A 33-year-old man was arrested in Old Washermenpet in the city for allegedly assaulting his six-year-old stepson. The accused, A Kadamban of Madurai, has been remanded in judicial custody.

According to the police, Nandini, who was separated from her husband, had married Kadamban,a construction labourer, a fewyears ago.
On Thursday, Nandini's six-year-old son was admitted to the Government Stanley Hospital with injuries on his face and the Korukkupet police was intimated of the incident.
A case was registered, and inquiries revealed that Kadamban often beat the child up as he wasnot his own.
"On Thursday, he hit the child with a ladle, inflicting injuries to his face," the police said.
After investigation, Kadambam was remanded in judicial custody.
