Though police claimed that no such race took place, the videos showed youngsters speeding on the bikes on the crowded Kamarajar Salai without helmets, and performing stunts such as wheelies and stoppies. In one of the videos, a duo riding a Pulsar 200NS is seen dragging the stand on the road, setting off sparks and spreading panic among other motorists and pedestrians. On Saturday night, a speeding bike rammed two pedestrians on RK Mutt Road. While the duo has been admitted at a private hospital, the bike involved in the accident too is said to have been mangled in the collision. It may be recalled that in June, a 19-year-old youth riding pillion as his friend raced another bike on Kamarajar Salai was killed after he was thrown to the ground when their two-wheeler’s handlebar brushed against an MTC bus. Kamarajar Salai has been a hot hub for youths on two-wheelers who want to perform stunts, posing risk to other motorists. After a bike stunt on last New Year’s eve went viral, police were forced to initiate a crackdown on such bikers.
