Teacher denies corporal punishment charge

In the incident where a police inspector beat up the relatives of a French teacher after she allegedly hit his daughter, the teacher’s family denied the allegations of corporal punishment, on Tuesday.

“It is a false claim that Cynthia hit the inspector’s daughter,” the family said. A letter written by one of the students, a classmate of the inspector’s daughter, said the teacher did not hit anybody till the end of the translation test that was held on the day of the incident.


Babu Rajendra Bose, who went to question the teacher, had ended up assaulting the teacher’s aunt, who resided nearby, and her father in Kodungaiyur. He is facing a departmental enquiry.


However, now, almost a week after the incident, both the sides have decided to patch up by withdrawing the complaints. “We have forgiven the inspector and he has also withdrawn the complaint,” a family member said.
