Police sources said the deceased, Senthil Kumar (38), reportedly took the extreme step after a few obscene videos, some of them of his colleagues, were found in the hard disc that the I-T sleuths had seized from him.

The incident came to light when the I-T officials realised he was missing when they were winding up the raid. They found him hanging inside a room at the office.

Senthil Kumar, a resident of Palavakkam, had been working in the firm for a decade. He was living in his father-in-law’s house in Vadapalani.

After raids began on Thursday, he had to stay in the office. He was allowed to go home on Friday morning and was asked to return on Saturday morning. On Saturday night, his family received a call informing that he was found hanging and was taken to a private hospital in Adyar. Soon after they arrived, his body was sent for autopsy to Government Royapettah Hospital.

The relatives initially refused to take the body claiming that he was tortured by the I-T officials. His wife lodged a complaint with Adyar police.

Police said initial probe revealed that the I-T officials seized a hard disc from him, in which they found obscene videos that were recorded using a hidden camera kept at the office restroom. Sources said it appears he was worried that the I-T officials would use that to extract information from him. It is not clear if the IT officials questioned him on the videos.

Adyar police noted that there was no suicide note.
