4 held for robbing pedestrian at Kannagi Nagar

The Kannagi Nagar police have arrested four persons for allegedly robbing a mobile phone from a pedestrian.

The accused have been identified as T Rajan (26), R Ashok Kumar (29), L Rajkumar (26) and A Ashok (29) of Kannagi Nagar and were remanded in judicial custody. The stolen mobile phone was also seized from them.


The incident happened on Friday night when B Muthukumar (24) of Karapakkam was passing by Mahatma Gandhi Street. The four men surrounded him and robbed him of the mobile phone at knifepoint. Based on his complaint, the police registered a case and secured the suspects with the help of CCTV footage.


Meanwhile, a daily wage labourer at Koyambedu vegetable market was snatched of his mobile phone in the wee hours of Monday. The victim, Manikandan (27) of Villupuram district, who works as a load man, was talking on the phone on Jawaharlal Nehru Salai when a bike-borne duo snatched his mobile phone and fled from the spot. Based on his complaint, the police have registered a case and launched a hunt for the suspects.
