The new numbers are 46274999 and 044 71819575. “With the new system, animal lovers can choose from the interactive voice response (IVR) menu options. Within seconds, they can either reach an operator for emergencies or leave a message if all agents are busy,” said Vinod Kumar, General Manager (Admin), Blue Cross of India.
In the statement, Kumar added that smoother connectivity will encourage to public to report more cases of animal injury. The IVR menu will also include assistance on adoption, donation, volunteering, and more.
“Earlier, we had three landline numbers that would be manned by two staff each during the morning and night shifts. We have had to increase the number of staff and volunteers manning the lines during peak hours to make it easier for the public to reach us. In spite of this, our numbers remain continuously engaged for many callers. With the new system, which has unlimited lines, no one will get a busy tone; even if all the agents are busy, they can leave a voice message for rescues,” said Kumar.
The previous numbers will be discontinued from January 1, 2020. “Until then, the old numbers will still be answered but only be used for emergencies,” said Kumar.
