2,615 special buses to ply for Karthigai Deepam festival
The State Transport Department has announced that 2,615 special buses will ply to Tiruvannamalai for Karthigai Deepam festival between December 9 and 12. The festival will be celebrated on December 10 and the Girivalam will be held on December 11.

A release from Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) - Villupuram said that about 500 special buses would be operated from Chennai.
“Around 1,112 special buses from Tambaram, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Pondicherry, Cuddalore, Chidambaram, Panruti, Kancheepuram, Vellore, Thirupattur, Arani and Arcot, among other places, will ply to Thiruvannamalai. These buses will make 5,020 trips,” therelease added.
Meanwhile, TNSTC – Kumbakonam has made arrangements to operate 450 special buses from Kumbakonam and Trichy; 251 special buses will be operated from Salem, Bengaluru, Dharmapuri and Hosur by TNSTC – Salem.
TNSTC – Coimbatore and TNSTC – Madurai will operate 122 and 100 special buses respectively and 80 special buses will be operated by TNSTC – Thirunelveli. “In total, 2,615 buses will be operated during the festival and the buses will make around 6,500 trips,” the release said.
While, TNSTC – Villupuram plans to operate 5,020 trips, TNSTC – Kumbakonam and TNSTC – Salem has arranged to operate728 trips.
