Duo held for burning friend’s auto after fight
The police in Avadi arrested two men for setting their friend’s auto ablaze after a fight broke out between them at a Tasmac bar. M Thamim Ansari of Tamil Nadu Housing Board quarters in Avadi, an auto driver, was invited by his friend B Imran Khan (22) of Tambaram to consume alcohol on Friday evening.

While they were drinking, a fight broke out between them. Ansari left the spot and parked his autorickshaw in a ground near his house. Around 3 am, he was woken by his neighbours informing that his autorickshaw was up in flames. The Fire and Rescue personnel from Avadi station rushed to the spot and put out the fire. Avadi police registered a case and combed the CCTV footage retrieved from the locality. In the video, two men were found setting fire to the autorickshaw. Ansari identified one of them was Imran Khan. Khan was held and based on this. Later, his friend R Rajesh (22) of Tirumullaivoyal was also secured. After they reportedly confessed to have committed the crime, they were produced before the magistrate at Poonamallee court and remanded in judicial custody.
