Trio held with ganja, banned tobacco products at MGR Central

Three people were arrested by the Flower Bazaar police for allegedly possessing ganja and other banned tobacco products, at MGR Central Railway Station.

Eight sachets of 25 gram ganja, 40 packets of 25 gram jarda tobacco and 200 drug-laced chocolates were seized from the suspects, identified as Chanwash Warsady (35), Babu Kumar (19) and an 18-year-old boy. They were picked up from the railway station and handed over to theFlower Bazaar police.


Investigation revealed that they smuggled the contraband to supply it to people in Sowcarpet. Chanwash and Babu Kumar were remanded in judicial custody and the minor was sent to observation home.


Meanwhile, the Villivakkam police arrested a man and seized 2 kg mawa tobacco. Police said B Suresh (55) of Villivakkam was supplying tobacco products to shops in the locality. Suresh was secured on suspicion on Friday evening, and his two-wheeler was seized. He was then remanded in judicial custody.
