Gang of four loots 100kg onions, hunt on

The police are searching for unidentified men who looted more than 100kg onions from a shop near Tambaram on Sunday night.

The incident happened at the shop of one Balakrishnan (45) from Agaramthen in Tambaram. On Sunday around 10 pm, Balakrishnan closed the shop and went home.

On Monday morning, when he came to open the shop, the lock of the shutter was broken open and a scak of 100 kg onion along with 40 kg rice and Rs 2,000 in cash was missing.

Balakrishnan filed a complaint with the Selaiyur police and they when browsed the CCTV footage to find four men on two bikes entering the shop at midnight.

After a few minutes, they took the sacks on the same bikes and escaped from the spot. The Selaiyur police have registered a case and are trying to identify the robbers with the help of CCTV footage.
