TNTEU gets 1st online group for teachers
In a first of its kind, more than 700 colleges affiliated to Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University (TNTEU) will be part of a social media group to share information on the activities of the institutions and as well as TNTEU.

At present, a total of 731 governments government aided and self-financing affiliated colleges are functioning under the university that is offering B Ed, M Ed, B Sc, B Ed and BA, B Ed degree courses for lakhs of teaching aspirants across the State.
A senior official from the university told DT Next that it has been decided to connect all the colleges through the social media for transparency in all activities from admissions to exam results. “TNTEU will be first to create a WhatsApp group to connect all the colleges,” he added.
He said that the main objective to create a social media group is that to provide in time information and to monitor management activities on regular basis as per the norms laid by National Council for Teacher Education.
Stating that a circular has been issued to the management of the institutions across all the districts, he said each college principal and correspondent would be included in the social media group.
“Each college will be updating its day-to-day activities”, he said and added that circulars, notices, admission notification and exam announcement will be updated through WhatsApp.
The official said the department of the university such as Pedagogical Sciences, Value Education, Education Psychology, Educational Technology, Curriculum Planning and Evaluation and Educational Planning and Administration will also be added to the social media group.
“In addition, authorities in the university’s syndicate, academic council and staff in board of studies will also join the What’s App group to know the latest updates,” he said. According to the university staff, in future, TNTEU is also planning to create a common online platform connecting management of institution, teaching staff, non-teaching employees, students and the university.
