Duo posing as policemen kidnap man in Royapettah

Zam Bazaar police launched a hunt for two men who kidnapped a 40-year-old man from his house in Royapettah on Friday claiming to be police personnel.

The victim identified as Kannan (40), a resident of Royapettah was employed at a private firm. While he was at his house on Friday evening, two men barged into the house and claimed that they are policemen. They also said that they want to take Kannan into police custody to interrogate him in a mobile theft case.


However, family members grew suspicious as they saw the duo taking Kannan in a rental cab instead of a police vehicle. When they rushed to the Zam Bazaar police they were told that police did not take custody of Kannan.


Later, the entire episode was narrated to the police after which the Zam Bazaar police personnel registered a case. CCTV footage from the nearby places were retrieved to trace the victim and the suspects. Further investigation is on.
