Man murdered in drunken brawl in Thiru Vi Ka Nagar, one arrested

A day after a 46-year-old man was stabbed to death outside a Tasmac shop in Thiru Vi Ka Nagar, police arrested the suspect on Saturday and remanded him in judicial custody.

The accused identified as Santhosh (26) of the same locality worked as a sales representative, police said. 


Sureshkumar (46) of Kolathur, a painter by profession, consumed liquor at a Tasmac shop in Thiru Vi Ka Nagar on Friday night. After an argument erupted between them, Santhosh stabbed Sureshkumar with a pocket knife when they stepped outside the bar. 


Police said that Sureshkumar fought with Santhosh to buy liquor for him which irked the latter. While he stabbed him and fled the spot, Sureshkumar died on the way to the hospital due to profuseloss of blood. 


Based on a complaint, Thiru Vi Ka Nagar police registered a case and nabbed Santhosh with the help of CCTV footage retrieved from the locality. Santhosh was remanded in judicial custody on Saturday.
