3 arrested for attacking 21-year-old with machete

The accused, P Tamilaghu (19), R Thirumurthy (21) and S Dass (21) of Tirumudivakkam, were booked under attempt to murder charges and were remanded in judicial custody.

The victim, P Nithyanandam (21) of Pazhanthandalam, is undergoing treatment at a private hospital with grievous injuries to his head. According to the police, Nithyanandam confronted the trio for creating ruckus, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, on Monday night. This led to a heated an argument between him and the accused. Later, they left the spot.

On Tuesday morning, however, they surrounded Nithyanandam near his house and attacked him with a machete before fleeing the spot. Nithyanandam suffered serious injuries on his head, and was rushed to a private hospital nearby for treatment. Based on his complaint police arrested the three men.
