The child was identified as BC Pavan, a resident of Egnali in Yesvanthpur, Bangalore.

An RPF officer from St Thomas Mount who was on duty at the Guindy station noticed Pavan roaming around for a long time at the station and he appeared nervous. The officer then tried to speak to the boy only to realise that he did not know either Tamil or English and spoke only Kannada. The officer then took Pavan to St Thomas Mount RPF station and during investigation found that the child had run away from his home in Bangalore after being scolded by his parents for not studying well. The RPF then informed the Karnataka police about the situation. The Karnataka police in turn got in touch with the boy’s parents who are on their way to Chennai to collect Pavan.

Meanwhile, the boy was fed and later shifted to Kodambakkam child helpline shelter home.
