Driver escapes with Rs 52 lakh meant for replenishing ATMs
The Velachery police have launched a hunt for the driver of a private agency entrusted with replenishing bank ATMs as he escaped with the car and Rs 52 lakh cash in it.

Three staff members of CMS Info Systems along with the driver, identified as Ambrose, started in a Xylo car with Rs 87 lakh cash from Teynampet. After replenishing five ATMs on the way, they reached Vijaya Bank ATM at Vijaya Nagar in Velachery on Thursday evening. While three staff members were inside the ATM, the driver drove away with the car.
Panicked trio alerted the Velachery police who rushed to the spot and conducted inquiries. It is said that they did not bring an armed guard along with them for the safety. CCTV footage retrieved from the locality is being combed to trace the missing car with cash.
Duo attempts ATM burglary, held
Two men have been arrested by the Puzhal police for allegedly attempting to break open an ATM in the locality on Wednesday night.
Based on the information that that three men were stealing a motorbike at Teachers Colony in Puzhal, a police team rushed to the spot. On noticing the police, the three men tried to escape.
However, police managed to secure two of them — Vijayakumar (22) and Naresh (25) of Tiruvallur. But the third accused, Rahul, fled the spot. Investigation revealed that they tried to break open an ATM after stealing the bike. The duo was remanded in judicial custody.
