The CBI ACB, Chennai in its FIR stated that 52-year-old Dr M Jonathan Daniel (who went by the name of Dr M Sriram previously) professor, head and associate dean, MGPGI of Dental Science in Puducherry, had hidden details of two years’ work in Kuwait as generalpractitioner and submitted a fake certificate to get a job at the institution.

The CBI document stated that information was received that the associate dean was promoted to the post adhoc professor in the institute on 16 February 2005, with 6 years and 3 months of teaching experience after his post-graduation and was promoted as a regular professor on 10 November 2005, with seven years teaching experience against the mandatory 8 years required in the subject.

Between 4 March 2000 and3 March 2002, Dr Jonathan Daniel had worked as assistant registrar cum research officer at Amiri DentalCentre in Kuwait which could not be counted as teaching experience for promotion to the post of a professor as he was working as a general practitioner at a clinic.

When Dr Jonathan submitted his experience certificates to Mahatma Gandhi PG Institute of Dental Science in 2002, he hid the details of his work in Kuwait and gave a false undertaking that he had worked as an assistant professor at Raja Rajeswari Dental Hospital from 1996 to 2002.

A case has been registered by the CBI for conspiracy, cheating and official misconduct against him and unknown officials at the MGPGI of Dental Science.
