She hit her head in the impact and fell unconscious. Then, Iyyanar called up Anjali’s sister who lived nearby and told her that Anjali was unwell that that she should drop by to check on her. He then fled. When Anjali’s sister arrived, she found her lying in a pool of blood and rushed her to a local private hospital where the doctors declared her brought dead.
On receiving the information, the Pallikaranai police registered a case and sent the body for a post-mortem examination at the Chromepet government hospital. The police nammed Iyyanar near the Tambaram bus stop and during interrogation, he admitted that he had only pushed Anjali in a fit of rage and did not mean to kill her. But, she died on the spot after hitting her head on the wall, Iyyanar told the police. He has been remanded in judicial custody.
