The accused, identified as S Arul Kumar (23) of Erode district and M Anandaraj (21) of Virudhunagar district, were booked on charges of disturbing the public and creating nuisance. They were, however, later let off on station bail.

According to sources, the police control room on Friday evening received an alert via Kavalan SOS application and based on the location, the Flower Bazaar policewere alerted.

When police then contacted the person who sent the SOS alert, the woman reportedly told them that two men verbally abused a woman in an MTC bus (Route no 15G) heading towards Koyambedu. The patrol team then rushed to the RGGGH bus stop opposite Dr MGR Central station and arrested the duo.

Investigations revealed that the accused were law graduates and had come to the Bar Council in the city to participate in the registrationprocess.

The city police had only earlier this month recorded the first arrest through Kavalan SOS application when two men tried to enter a house in Korukkupet where two women were by themselves at the house. The police had booked the men for trespassing and remanded them to judicial custody.

City police commissioner A K Viswanathan recently said that the application that enables people to seek police assistance instantly has recorded over 10 lakh downloads.
