The children belonged to various places like Otteri slum, Saidapet slum, a village in Sriperumbudur and Narikuravar Colony in Thirumulavoyil. The kids were given a gift voucher to select or shop on their own and grab a toy or item of their choice. The objective of this initiative was to provide the kids an experience of a self-service shopping centre and celebrate Christmas.
Speaking about the initiative, Churchill Joseph, CEO of Dr John Joseph Foundation, said, “Children who could only afford to see others celebrate Christmas so far had got the opportunity which they had long been waiting for. Our vision is to give the underprivileged children hope and a future.” Dr John Joseph Foundation works with children from underserved communities and also runs a care and support centre for the less fortunate children in Kilpauk.
