Vendor’s leg saved from cattle grid
A 40-year-old fruit seller was rescued by the fire and rescue personnel after his leg was stuck in a cattle grid at Koyamebdu vegetable market on Sunday night.

The incident happened a day after grids were set up at all 18 gates to prevent cattle from entering the premise and causing a nuisance to both vendors and visitors. The victim, Murugan, who sells guava in a pushcart, entered the market through the 18th gate around 10.30 pm when his left leg got stuck in the grid up to his thigh. After hearing his cries, passers-by rushed to his rescue, but their efforts were in vain. Later, the fire control room was alerted and the Koyambedu fire officer Rajendran and team rushed to the spot. and removed the grids with a cutter.
