Taking a suo motu cognisance over a media report that two employees of Tangedco were electrocuted, the SHRC issued a notice to the officers demanding a report and informed them that the matter will be listed before the commission within two weeks.

The notice further stated that in the event of any default, the Commission will take action as it deems fitand proper.

According to reports, Vincent (40) from Vyasarpadi and Udhaya (45) from Ennore were called into service to look into the power cut due to rain in Kothavalchavadi on January 1 morning.

They were working on repairs and climbed the transformer when they got electrocuted. Vincent was thrown off the transformer and Udhaya’s body was still hanging over the pole until the fire and rescue service personnel recovered it. Police officials are investigating the case about how the transformer — which was reportedly turned off for repair — caused the electrocution.
