Ramu returned home after work around 9 pm and got into an argument with his wife Kamini (32) after dinner. Later, he went inside the room at 11.55 pm. When Kamini entered the room 20 minutes later, she found Ramu hanging from the ceiling.

After she raised an alarm, police personnel living next to them rushed to his rescue and removed Ramu from the noose. But he had already died.

On information, the Tiruvottiyur police retrieved his body and sent it to Government Stanley Hospital for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered and preliminary inquiries revealed the couple often fought over differences.

Ramu is suspected to have resorted to the extreme step under the influence of alcohol. The couple has two daughters aged seven and one. Further investigation is on.
