Man arrested for kidnapping minor

Ganesh, the accused, from RMI Nagar in Kalpakkam is a private van driver. The police said that he was in a relationship with a Class 12 girl of the locality. On December first week, he kidnapped the girl from Kalpakkam and took her to Gujarat. Meanwhile, the minor girl’s parents lodged a missing person complaint at the Kalpakkam police station.

On hearing about the complaint, Ganesh sent the girl back to Chennai. She was sent alone on a flight on the third week of December.

But, when the girl turned 18 on January 15, Ganesh returned to Chennai and asked her to go with him as she was a major now. The girl refusedand told her parents. Based on a complaint from the minor’s parents, Ganesh was arrested under the Pocso Act.

Meanwhile, the Egmore all-women police arrested a 24-year-old man for misbehaving with a minor girl in Chintradripet. The accused, D Silambarasan, misbehaved with a 10-year-old girl on Wednesday. After the girl complained to her parents, the neighbours thrashed him and handed him over to the police.
