Dad’s friend kidnaps toddler from Central

The child, Rashida, is the daughter of Azar Ali (28) and Marzina from Assam. The couple, both construction labourers working in the city, had reached the railway station along with their six-year-old son, daughter, and Azar Ali’s friend Hamid to board the train to their hometown.

As the train was scheduled for 4 am, the couple decided to rest on platform 10. When the couple woke up in the middle of the night, they realised that Hamid and their daughter were missing. After searching for them in the station, the couple approached the railway police. When the CCTV footage was combed, Hamid was seen exiting the station around 1.20 am.

The Railway police have registered a case and have launched a hunt for Hamid and Rashida. After preliminary inquiries, the police said that Azar Ali and Hamid had recently fought over some issue, and suspect that Hamid could have kidnapped his daughter to threaten him. Further investigation is on. 

The city police have formed two special teams to trace the woman who escaped with an eight-month-old boy after promising to feature the kid in movies.

When contacted, RGGGH inspector-in-charge E Sasi said that two special teams have been formed to trace the woman. CCTV footage retrieved from the hospital showed the woman exiting the hospital with her face covered to avoid being captured in cameras. The police suspect that the woman must have boarded an MTC bus and are investigating which direction she vanished into.

The boy John is the son of Johny-Ranthosh couple from Maharashtra who sells balloons for a living at Marina beach. A woman whom the couple has often spotted at Marina beach approached them on Sunday evening claiming that she wants to feature their kid in movies. Believing her, Ranthosh and her mother-in-law took the child with them and followed the woman. While the woman first took them to Omandurar Government Hospital, they later went to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital. The woman allegedly told Ranthosh that she needs to change the child’s dress and get a skin test done and took away the child. Since she did not return for a long time, Ranthosh realised that her child has 

been kidnapped.
