Education dept to focus on info tech for State budget inputs
As the State government is set to present the budget for 2020-21 shortly, all the district education officers have been instructed to prepare the required data in their respective regions.

A senior official from Directorate of School Education, told DT Next that this School Education budget will mainly focus on implementing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at all the State-run schools from elementary to higher secondary level.
“The teachers were also asked to come up with creative ways of using ICT solutions to teach their students effectively,” he said adding that as the government is determined to achieve high standards of learning outcomes by giving access, adequate infrastructure facilities, availability of qualified teachers and by incorporating emerging trends in teaching and learning methodology.
“Therefore, all the district education officer led by Chief Education Officer were asked to take all the required data of schools that has to be incorporated in the budget”, the official said.
Accordingly, the officials will also be collecting the current infrastructure data from all the schools in their respective areas and would be sending the report to the Chennai headquarters by the end of February.
Stating that all district-wise data will be compiled for the recommendation, he said the government will be introducing new initiatives to build good education system and serve the objective of providing uniform education to allthe students.
“In addition, suggestions were also invited from academicians to continue to improve the standard of the education in the State”, he said adding all the feedback will be considered carefully and would be incorporated accordingly.
The official said the government is also taking steps to appoint new Chief Education Officer (CEO) in Chengalpet, Tirupattur, Kallakuruchi, Ranipet, Tenkasi, which was created as new districts. “At present district education officers were looking the worksof CEO”, he said.
