After the police received information that women were hired by the resort to dance with the guests and the entry tickets for such parties were sold online, Mamallapuram range ASP Sundaravanan and his team reached the resort on Vada Nemmeli on ECR on Sunday night.
While those operating the bar tried to flee on noticing the cops, the latter chased them but in vain. Before fleeing to the beach, one of them also attacked a sub-inspector, Kuppusamy, who was rushed to a nearby hospital. He is now out of danger.
While two rescued women dancers were let off with a warning, interrogation with the youngsters at the resort revealed they paid up to Rs 10,000 for the party.
Investigation revealed that one Aravindan (30), who hired the premises on a lease, is the kingpin behind the operations and it was he who attacked Kuppusamy, said police. The others were identified as Sathish (24), Sathya (27) and Imran (29). Over 100 bottles of liquor were also seized from the resort.
While a hunt has been launched for Aravindan and his men, ASP Sundaravanan has warned that resorts running dance bars and bars without a licence would be closed and sealed and the violators would be detained under the Goondas Act.
