Man cheats youngsters of Rs 25 L

A 57-year-old man who cheated youngsters and their parents to the tune of Rs 25 lakh on the promise of getting them government jobs was arrested.

The accused, H Abdul Rahman of Nesapakkam, told the victims that he was an advocate and personal assistant to many judges in the Madras High Court.


After the city police received a lot of complaints against him, the job fraud prevention wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) registered a case.


The investigation revealed that he received at least Rs 25 lakh from different persons promising to get them jobs in the judiciary, as teachers in government schools and Group 4 officers.


The police arrested and remanded him in judicial custody based on the complaints. A two-wheeler with ‘advocate’ written on it was also seized from him.


The CCB sleuths warned the public to be wary of those approaching them through phone calls, SMS or WhatsApp offering jobs in the government sector or abroad.
