City to witness month-long public art fest
Madras Art Guild, which promotes regional art and artists, is set for its second edition in the city.

The Madras Art Guild 2020 promises to encourage creative explorations around the theme ‘sustainability’ through its upcoming edition. The public art fest will be flagged off on January 24 by the Consul General of Germany in Chennai Karin Stoll, with the unveiling of an artwork by renowned artist and documentary filmmaker Gita Hudson. There will also be an exclusive viewing of works by veteran artists like Benitha Perciyal, Seema Kohli, Parvathi Nayar, Michael Wegener, Yuvan Bothysathuvar and Vijay Pichumani. The event will culminate with a fashion show on the theme ‘wearable art’ by the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Chennai.
The fest will be held in collaboration with NIFT, Chennai Photo Biennale Foundation, Cholamandal Artists’ Village, Government College of Fine Arts in Kumbakonam and Chennai, International Foundation of the Arts, and Gallery Veda. Madras Art Guild 2020 will be on display till February 23 at VR Chennai, Anna Nagar.
