Husband strangles woman using washing machine hose, held
The police have arrested a 32-year-old man who escaped to Andhra Pradesh after murdering his wife in Guindy. Prasad, a resident of Mosque Street, Maduvankarai, strangled his wife Usha with the hose of a washing machine.

He was running an idly and dosa batter shop in the area. He lived with Usha and their daughter Pooja (5). The couple often quarrelled as Usha kept complaining about their poor financial status.
When Usha went to her hometown for Pongal holidays, Prasad is said to have opened the shop only for a day. Usha, who returned home on Saturday, was irked over her husband’s behaviour and a quarrel broke out between them. In the melee, Prasad took the washing machine’s hose and strangled her.
Later, he locked the house and left to his hometown in Nellore along with his daughter. After he informed his parents about the incident, he left his daughter with them and escaped.
After Prasad’s parents informed their relatives in the city, the Guindy police were alerted. They retrieved Usha’s body and sent it for post-mortem examination to Government Royapettah Hospital. On information that Prasad returning to the city, the police secured him at Koyamebedu and remanded him in judicial custody.
