Trio part of B’luru IS module sent back to jail

The three were remanded back to judicial custody and lodged in Puzhal central jail.

Managing to extract information from them during the custodial interrogation helped the investigators to understand the operation of the IS module. A day after the three from Bengaluru were arrested, Delhi police had arrested the Khaja Moideen and his associates in Delhi for allegedly conspiring to trigger terror attacks and Delhi and UP.

State police had arrested Ejaz Pasha from Bengaluru, a suspected a gunrunner, based on the confession from the trio. The police had seized three guns from them. One of the three, an engineer had helped the Khaja Moideen, who is believed to be the head of IS’s TN operations, to communicate with his handler abroad using an end-to-end encrypted communicating software using a laptop.

Police also learnt about the Al Hind Trust, a frontal organisation of the module, which further helped them to nab Hussain Sheriff, who was managing the trust. He was believed to have given shelter to the killers of SSI Wilson in Kanniyakumari-Kerala border on the night of January 8 when they were on the run after committing the shooting.
