While driving auto on Kilampakkam–Athanur Road with his friends Arumugham of Karanaipuduchery and Seenu of Oorapakkam, Boopathi got into a fight with a two-wheeler rider. It escalated and the riders and his friends allegedly slashed Boopathi’s, killing him on the spot.

The body has been shifted to Chromepet Government Hospital for post-mortem examination.
