Duo hijacks container carrying machine parts worth Rs one crore
A hunt has been launched for two men who hijacked a lorry that was transporting machinery parts worth more than Rs one crore near Sriperumbudur on Monday. The vehicle was later found parked on the roadside in Poonamallee and out of the 300 machinery parts, 150 of them worth nearly Rs 50 lakh were stolen.

A lorry loaded with machinery parts was heading towards the city from SIPCOT in Irungattukottai near Sriperumbudur and was drove James (34) of Vyasarpadi.
When the vehicle was on the Irungattukottai-Sriperumbudur road, two men intercepted the lorry. However, the lorry driver did not stop the vehicle but slowed down, when the duo got inside and threatened him to take the lorry on the route they directed.
Police said James managed to jump down from the vehicle and with the help of the villagers, filed a complaint with the Sriperumbudur police station. The police who registered the case, admitted James to the Sriperumbudur Government Hospital.
On Tuesday early morning, police found the lorry parked on thePoonamallee road. The police said that the container was opened and the parts were missing.
Police suspect that the kidnappers had used another lorry to take away the stolen goods. A special team has been formed to trace the robbers.
