TNPSC scam: 2 more held for bribing to clear Group 2A

The CB-CID sleuths have arrested two more persons as part of the ongoing investigation into the alleged scam in the recruitment exams conducted by Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC).

The accused were identified as N Venkateshwaran (36) of Pattukottai in Thanjavur district, who worked as an assistant at the commercial tax office in his hometown and M Vimalkumar (34) of Musiri in Tiruchy district, who worked as an assistant at highways department. The CCB officials said that Venkateshwaran bribed Jayakumar of Rs 12 lakh through Uthiramerur Village Administrative Officer Vasanthakumar and cleared Group 2A exam with 265.5 marks to get 41st rank. Similarly, Vimalkumar approached Jayakumar through one Radha and bribed him Rs 7 lakh in order to score 276 marks, thus securing 22nd rank. With the duo, the number of arrests in the TNPSC scam has gone up to 35. While 17 persons have already been arrested for malpractices in Group 2A exam, 16 have been arrested for the same in Group 4 exams. Meanwhile, Jayakumar, the mastermind behind the TNPSC scam is being interrogated by CB-CID officials as they were granted custody of Jayakumar on Friday after he surrendered in Saidapet court on Thursday.
